OUR ROLE AS A PRODUCER RESPONSIBILITY ORGANISATION

Avada Recruitment Agency

Under South Africa’s EPR Regulations, Producers, importers, local manufacturers, brand owners, resellers and distributors placing regulated products on the market carry legal responsibility for the management of waste generated throughout the full lifecycle of those products.

Circular Energy assumes and manages these responsibilities on behalf of Producer Members, but only where such members are:

  • Properly registered with DFFE

  • Fully compliant with regulatory reporting requirements

  • Up to date with prescribed EPR fee payments

For compliant Producer Members, Circular Energy administers EPR fee collection, compliance reporting, government liaison, target fulfilment and transparent disbursement of funds across the value chain to ensure collection, recovery and recycling obligations are met.

In addition, Circular Energy works with General Members and industry stakeholders who actively seek to participate in circular economy initiatives, even where they do not carry direct statutory Producer obligations.

EDUCATION, AWARENESS
AND INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT

Circular Energy is mandated to educate and engage the relevant markets on the critical challenges and opportunities within the circular economy.

We actively communicate with:

  • Non-Compliant Producers

  • Compliant Producers

  • Distributors and resellers
  • Consumers

  • Recyclers and Waste Management Service Partners

  • Installers, distributors and value chain participants

  • The broader public

Through structured communication, campaigns, training initiatives and industry engagement, we promote understanding of regulatory obligations, environmental risks and practical solutions for waste minimisation and resource recovery. We also provide updates on organisational progress, projects and sector developments.

Along with all the mandatory communications
that Circular Energy is required to provide,
we also strive to share our purpose, continuously
build our brand, and reinforce our
commitment to a circular economy.

MORE ON WHAT WE DO…

GOVERNANCE, TRANSPARENCY
AND REPORTING

Accountability is central to our mandate. Circular Energy documents and manages all organisational activities, including member administration, regulatory compliance, financial management, marketing initiatives and operational performance.

We submit comprehensive reports to DFFE in accordance with EPR Regulations and provide transparent reporting to Members and the public to ensure integrity, responsible governance and regulatory compliance.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
AND NATIONAL
TAKE-BACK SCHEME

Circular Energy develops and implements projects that form part of the national take-back system, working in collaboration with industry partners and Waste Management Service Providers to establish structured collection and recovery networks for end-of-life products.

These initiatives drive responsible recycling, waste diversion and beneficiation in alignment with national targets, delivering measurable environmental impact beyond compliance alone.

SOCIAL IMPACT
AND JOB CREATION

Circular Energy aligns environmental responsibility with social and economic development by actively supporting job creation within women-led enterprises, youth initiatives, persons living with disabilities and the informal sector.

Through responsible value chain development and project implementation, we ensure that EPR compliance contributes to inclusive economic participation and sustainable livelihoods across South Africa.
